Bunsen - In Heidelberg

How many of us have used a Bunson Burner?  We used it in chemistry, biology, and almost with any science project where we needed to heat up a flask of some kind. I never knew the burner was named after someone.  Although, Bunsen wasn't a chemist they have a stature to his honor in front of the pyschology department at the University.

There is one of these statues on each side of the square Bunsen stands in. Couple of the web sites wonder as to what they have to do with anything let alone be here with Bunsen.  I for one don't really care.  Could be they had these and no where else to put them or with Bunsen being a pyschologist would concur the meaning of them if they were in your mind.  Anyway, the kids like them I couldn't stay long enough for the kids to get off them to get a picture of just the statue. Wonder how their teacher that took them there explains the meaning of their being there.

Here's the surrounding area from the square.
